It took over three years, at the turn of the 20th Century, to formulate the Sennelier range of Extra Soft Pastels "à l'écu" and thus to create one of the largest chromatic range of pastels. Throughout the century, this range of tones has evolved, but the heart of its making remains unchanged.
The half stick size soft pastels are as sturdy as they are economical. Their strength enables them to withstand extensive handling and traveling, and their low price enables artists to afford an array of colors. Half stick pastels have the exact same pigment and binder composition as the full sticks.
Sennelier has now made available three introductory themed sets of 30 half sticks – the “Plein Air” Seaside, Urban and Landscape – as well as a best-seller assortment.
