LIQUITEX: Still Life Painting Made Simple - In-Person Workshop With Abby Williams

Starts: Saturday, May 30th, 2026 — 11:00am
Ends: 12:30pm
Where: Jerrys Artarama of CT 1109 New Britain Ave, West Hartford CT

Standing in the paint aisle and choosing the right acrylic paint can be an overwhelming experience, but it doesn’t have to be. Liquitex Artist Abby Williams will guide you through painting a still life while sharing the attributes of the Soft Body, Heavy Body, Acrylic Ink, Acrylic Gouache, Bio-Based Heavy Acrylic paint ranges, and NEW Liquitex Markers.

While artists might not traditionally use all six ranges in one painting, Abby will take an unconventional approach so that you can see exactly how they work and offer advice on why you might choose one over another. Are you looking for thicker or thinner acrylic paint? Do you prefer impasto marks over the absence of brushstrokes? How about the precision of markers? Or maybe you’re looking for a more sustainable option. Paint along with Abby or just observe while she helps you get to the bottom of it all so you can make wise purchases that are best for your painting process.

NOTE: $10 class registration is required due to limited seating in our classroom space, but will be returned to the customer as store credit upon class check-in.

*Materials are required for this class. There will be a minimal amount of paint available to use (shared); however, customers are strongly encouraged to purchase their own paint materials to not limit themselves. Participants must bring brushes, canvas, and markers.

Abby Williams

Abigail Williams is a self-taught artist whose work spans both 2D and 3D media—from acrylic, watercolor, and oil, to enamel, printmaking, and woodcarving. Though based in and inspired by New England, Abigail thrills at the opportunity to create on the road, and has painted across four continents (so far).

As an artist, Abigail sees her process as a way to learn, whether by studying a subject or experimenting with a medium. As a linguist, she sees art-making as a uniquely powerful form of communication. She hopes her pieces will invite others to share in the excitement of newfound understanding.

Finally, Abigail recognizes the responsibility of artists to respect the environment from which we all draw inspiration. She seeks new and old ways of creating which minimize waste and leave no trace.
