Watercolor Course With Alan James (Intermediate Level)

6 Thursdays at 10am - 1pm 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26, 4/2, 4/9

In this six-week Intermediate course we will cover the fundamental and advanced techniques that will make it possible for a successful watercolor painting. We will create a new painting each week and concentrate on simple subject matter, primarily landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes.

What we will cover:

• -A more comprehensive understanding of composition: Design, Values, Shapes. Edges and Color
• -A more comprehensive understanding of the application of washes, wet in wet, glazing and dry brush techniques.
• -A refresher on the importance of water to pigment ratios -A refresher on drawing, perspective and proportion.
• -How to exploit the natural flow of water and discover the secrets that make it work its magic like no other medium can and learn to let the water guide you while overcoming the urge to control every brushstroke.
