Watercolor & Illustration Day Lillies, Dahlias, & Japanese Anemones - Online Workshop With Marika Hahn

Starts: Monday, August 9th, 2021 — 5:45pm
Ends: 9:00pm
Where: Online Zoom Workshop

This class celebrates late blooming summer flowers. “Wet on Wet” will be used for delicate color blending on the petals of an Anemone. Using a controlled brush stroke, detail will be carefully added to the stamens surrounding the delicate center; this requires control and practice. Dahlias are a perfect flower to use “layering”. A Daylily incorporates all the techniques mentioned plus “Dry Brushing”. Each flower, illustrated in class, will have a planned composition with attention to cropping, for added interest.

Classes are designed for adults with varied artistic abilities, everyone is welcome. Using Watercolor Inks is recommended. Inks are transparent and colors are easy to mix and flow beautifully. Participants preferring to use watercolor in tubes are welcome to use their preferred medium. Each class will start with a demonstration showing specific techniques needed to accomplish completed paintings. Wet on Wet, Wet on Dry, layering/Glazing and Brush Stroke Techniques are part of building your skills. The classes approach watercolor using graphic illustration with an emphasis on composition and cropping.

The process of watercolor painting is relaxing, creative and FUN!

Before each class, participants receive pdf’s of the images we will be working on in class. If participants can print these, to reference in class, it is helpful but not required.
