Watercolor & Illustration : New Veggies - Online Workshop With Marika Hahn

Starts: Monday, February 1st, 2021 — 1:00pm
Ends: 4:00pm
Where: Online Zoom Meeting

New Veggies: Most veggies and fruits are simple shapes useful for practicing wet on wet and other fundamentals of watercolor. We will focus on painting root vegetables, definitely including radishes, turnips, red onions and beets. I never want to rush the class and plan extra illustrations, if time allows.

Painting Fruits and Veggies are perfect subjects for artists of all abilities. Potential opportunities are endless. Illustrations can be done as a still life or as a poster design including decorative type, which I will demonstrate. I will demo loose expressive techniques as well as tight controlled illustrations with detail, highlights and shading techniques. There is so much to experiment with, I offer these as separate classes.

This class is designed for adults with varied artistic abilities, everyone is welcome. Using Watercolor Inks is recommended. Inks are transparent and colors are easy to mix and flow beautifully. Participants preferring to use watercolor in tubes are welcome to use their preferred medium.

Each class will start with with a demonstration showing specific techniques needed to accomplish completed paintings. Wet on Wet, Wet on Dry, Layering/Glazing and Brush Stroke Techniques are part of building your skills. The classes approach watercolor using graphic illustration with an emphasis on composition and cropping. Before each class, participants receive pdf’s of the images we will be working on in class. If participants can print these, to reference in class, it is helpful but not required.

The process of watercolor painting is relaxing, creative and FUN!
