SECOND SESSION 4 Week Class Wednesdays 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9 from 6-9pm

This Watercolor Workshop, using watercolor inks, is designed for adults with varied artistic abilities, everyone is welcome. Inks are transparent and colors are easy to mix and flow beautifully. Participants preferring to use watercolor in tubes are welcome to use their preferred medium. Each week will have a theme, an inspiration. I will start each class with a demonstration showing specific techniques needed to accomplish completed paintings. Wet on Wet, Wet on Dry, Layering/Glazing and Brush Stroke Techniques are part of building your skills. The classes approach watercolor using graphic illustration with an emphasis on composition and cropping. The first 4 classes are designed as a series, and build skills gradually and in sequence. I start every class with a demo and demo anything needed for participants.

The process of watercolor painting is relaxing, creative and FUN! Before each class I will send pdf’s of the images we will be working on in class. If participants can print these, to reference in class, it will be helpful but not required.

1. DECORATIVE FLOWERS + LEAVES and BERRIES - All the techniques listed in the series descriptions will be used in this class Aside from being fun and turning out a lovely piece of art, this is the perfect class to take as a refresher for the experienced painters or for a beginner or almost beginner.

*Painting fruits and veggies are perfect subjects for artists of all abilities. Potential opportunities are endless, they can be done as a still life or as a poster design including decorative type, which I will demonstrate. I will demo loose expressive techniques as well as tight controlled illustrations with detail, highlights and shading techniques. There is so much to experiment with, I offer these as separate classes.

2. VEGGIES - Most veggies and fruits are simple shapes useful for practicing wet on wet and other f fundamentals of watercolor. I will definitely include eggplants, tomatoes and possibly turnips + carrots in my demos. I never want to rush the class and plan extra illustrations, if time allows.

3. FRUITS - Wet in wet PLUS dry brush will be used to paint a peaches poster and pears on a branch. We may also paint cross-sections of citrus

4. FLOWERS - Painting flowers incorporates all the techniques learned in preceding classes. Participants will practice using wet in wet, so petals have subtle and delicate shading. Using dry brush, details will be added along with veins in the petals, leaves and stems. Experimenting with multiple techniques helps participants find their own hand (style) which can change, depending on the subject matter. Painting both realistic and decorative flowers and leaves will be demonstrated. Preserving white areas and adding veins to leaves and petals will be explored. Tulips will be painted and perhaps, Echinacea.

$140 registration fee for all 4 classes. click add fee to cart to register online. Once registered you will be sent further details on how to attend this event.
