Create a Holiday Card with a Decorative Design Bird, Feathers, Flowers, Abstract Landscapes + more...

Consider giving this workshop as a wonderful holiday or birthday gift.

This in person workshop is designed for adults with varied artistic abilities; everyone is welcome. Using liquid watercolor (Ecoline is available at Jerry’s), the colors are easy to mix and flow beautifully. Participants are welcome to work with watercolor in tubes. Demonstrations showing specific techniques including wet on wet, wet on dry, dry brush, glazing/layering, charging and brush stroke happen throughout the class.

Birds are an easy and graphic shape. Crafting a simple outline and filling in the bird shape with leaves, berries, paisley patterns, geometric shapes, feathers, flowers and/or clouds will be great fun with non stop demonstrations and interactive art making. Type can be added so the finished illustration can be a lovely gift ( keepsake) or special occasion card.

The second half of the class will be focused on Bold Expressive Brushstrokes and Abstract Landscapes. We’ll paint thin and thick lines and create one and two stroke decorative leaves. Expressive marks using a wide brush (#12-#16 as an option) will be inspired by the work of Franz Kline. Class will practice applying water mindfully to achieve a result only watercolor can. Abstract landscapes with moody skies, shadow, light and reflection is great fun and uses many techniques.

  • Students will be properly spaced apart
  • CDC guidance on COVID protocols will be properly observed

Add registration fee to cart to register for this in person class! Registration fees are non-refundable.
