A step-by-step instruction to complete a floral and still life composition using selected Winsor & Newton Jewel Tone Professional Watercolors with the help from a few watercolor mediums and the new Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolor synthetic sable brushes.

A watercolor immersion with artist Jim Bergesen providing a live in-situ painting project and demonstration of the creative application of watercolor, participants will learn mixing newly developed colors extracting from a summer themed floral and object based still life. Participants will explore watercolor through establishing form and composition while maximizing their experience of using the Winsor and Newton Jewel Tone Professional Watercolors and using the new synthetic sable brushes. Jim will also introduce some helpful watercolor mediums and share tips on how to achieve desired results.

As a bonus, participants will also be provided with a Winsor & Newton step-by-step project to take away and apply the watercolor process at home.

About Jim Bergesen

Jim Bergesen is a New York based Artist & Educator, who also conducts Winsor & Newton and Liquitex art materials workshops for colleges and universities in NYC and with TFAC (the Fine Art Collective) in the tri-state area.

His artwork strives to reveal the unseen nature and spirit within through an ongoing exploration of re-focusing and re-framing images. Colo(u)r in both pixelated and solid forms imbues his work where the representational is abstracted and abstraction is created. Jim’s artistic practice includes Acrylics, Watercolor, Mixed-media, Oils, and Digital media embracing possibilities through traditional, contemporary and digital technologies, occasionally find a synthesis between mediums.

A Life Member of the Art Students League of New York, Jim holds an MFA in Studio Art and a MA in Contemporary Art History and Criticism (SUNY, Purchase College). He credits his artistic development from his formative years in the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.

In addition to his studio practice and teaching, Jim passionate about sharing his knowledge of the history and uses of art materials, he provides a diverse range of workshops, as well as demos for Winsor & Newton, and Liquitex, TFAC.

His art has been acquired for several corporate and private collections and Jim’s recent work is available at the Thompson Giroux Gallery.
