Brushes
Choosing the right brush is an important step for the artist. There is much to consider: the medium of paint the brush will be using, the desired effect the artist wants to achieve, the budget and absolute minimum requirements. As with most things, the least expensive solution is not always the best, and that addage is true of brushes too. You will notice that the finer artist brushes offer substantially better quality in the: paint retention (how much paint it holds), consistency of application, consistency of the bristle or hair, firm or springy-ness of the brush (how well does it push the paint around), and very importantly: how well does it hold up to constant usage. All brushes will get "eaten" by the rough texture of the canvas and with respect to the artists' touch, and the softer the hair the quicker it will be. If you need fine detail brushes, sizes 2 or below, consider getting a few as many artits will start off with flats and end up with short filberts by the end of a peice.
